Flyers send Morin, Leier to Phantoms

The Flyers sent defenseman Sam Morin and left winger Taylor Leier to the AHL's Phantoms on Wednesday as the team got closer to its 23-man opening-night roster.
"I really liked their games," coach Dave Hakstol said after practice Wednesday in Voorhees.

Radko Gudas, the Flyers' most physical defenseman, played in his first preseason game Monday, and he lasted less than the one period before being ejected at the Wells Fargo Center.
No hearing for Gudas on hit

There will be no hearing for defenseman Radko Gudas in regard to his hit on Rangers rookie Jimmy Vesey on Monday night. Though Gudas was ejected from the game immediately after the hit, the NHL said there was no need to hold a hearing.
"I think we both made the wrong decision," Gudas said. "I was committed to the hit, and when he was turning it was tough to stop."

Claude Giroux wasn't supposed to make his preseason debut Monday night, but he talked his way into the Flyers' lineup and centered Travis Konecny and Brayden Schenn.
Goalie Steve Mason, who has had an excellent training camp, is expected to start Monday's exhibition against the New York Rangers at the Wells Fargo Center.
